Dan was known for his nautical artwork, his electric style, and his generous nature. he was a true Saskatoon icon whose carefree spirit amd love of life touched many. Many encountered Sailor Dan in the streets of Saskatoon, where he sold his drawings of the same ship for decades. A ship that, ironically, became an iconic local image in the middle of the prairies.

Dan and I began working together in 2014. A collaboration of my clothing designs with hus iconic ship printed on them. He received royalties for every piece sold from the collection. Visiting Dan was always entertaining. He often came in with a song, or a little dance, a lively story or brilliant idea!
Dan struggled with his mental health and frequented many of the organizations in the community for support. After his passing, his royalties are now directed to these local mental health organizations.
